The Goleta Valley Library is one of our community's most important institutions, serving people all over the South Coast.
Every day, more than 1,000 patrons visit the library to borrow books, CDs, DVDs, audio-books, use the free computers with Internet access, or simply to relax, do homework, or read.
Who are The Friends?
The Friends of the Goleta Valley Library are the support arm of the Library and have been in existence for more than 30 years. We are an entirely volunteer, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
We raise funds through membership dues, the on-going book sale, and special events such as the yearly Signed Book Silent Auction.
Over past years, the Friends have funded
the staff salaries needed to keep the library open on Monday afternoons
book purchases for the Adult and Juvenile collections
programs for children
the Summer Reading Program and the salary of the additional staff needed to shelve the many books read by children who participate in the program
computer and multi-media purchases
